Attorneys from Maine & Asmus Judge at the 2006 Fidelity Young Inventors'
Program
On April 8, 2006, attorneys Andrew Cernota and Kristina M. Grasso from
Maine & Asmus
participated as judges at the 2006 Fidelity Young Inventors' Program, which
was held at the Winnisquam High School in Tilton, New Hampshire. Attorney Cernota
judged the inventions of the second grade participants, while Attorney Grasso
judged the entries for the sixth, seventh and eighth grade participants. As
Pamela Hampton, Program Director for the Young Inventor's Program indicated, "We
have a great group of judges participate each year and this year was no exception.".
Maine & Asmus enjoys a long standing association with the Young Inventors'
Program both as judges and in assisting participants file patent applications
for their inventions. In fact, Maine & Asmus was singled out at this year's
awards ceremony for their pro bono work in assisting David Chern, a young inventor
from the 2005 competition, file a provisional patent application for his invention,
a training aid for skiers.
Established in 1986, the Young Inventors' Program®(YIP) is a statewide
program coordinated by the Academy of Applied Science and a volunteer consortium
of New Hampshire educators to spark creativity in students in grades K through
8. New Hampshire held its first statewide annual celebration 1987. YIP combines
teacher training with the integration of invention into the classroom curriculum,
and hosts an annual celebration for student inventors.
